This website is dedicated to exploring ideas for improving and expanding the group of SEPTA Light Rail lines known as the Subway-Surface system.  The Subway-Surface vehicles operate via a tunnel (shown as a thick line on the map below) through Center City Philadelphia and the University City district as well as operating in streetcar mode on streets in West Philadelphia.

SEPTA plans to make significant improvements to the Subway-Surface system in the future.  Additional modifications could be implemented that would enhance the attractiveness and utility of the existing system even further.  There is also the opportunity to expand service to some of the many areas within the City of Philadelphia that lack fixed guideway transit.  Select the menu links to explore concepts that would improve and expand the Subway-Surface system.
